Scuba Dive Around the World
May 26, 2011. Author: Drew Collins
Many people think of Scuba diving only in warm, tropical locations such as Australia, the Red Sea or the Caribbean. Here divers can learn the sport easily, then plunge into a mild ocean climate and witness all the colorful and rich bounty of the sea. Scuba lessons are also available in most major cities and towns throughout the world, not limited to just warm ocean,
vacation destinations. I learned toScuba dive and became certified in the cold, Emerald green waters of the Puget Sound. Average year round temperature isabout 46 degrees, and can get as low as 39 degrees. The cold waters are an excellent training ground for diving almost anywhere in the world, and provide some of best underwater photographic opportunities in the world.
Any deep lake, quarries and many rivers are suitable for going scuba diving, whether practicing for your tropical vacation or just enjoying your being in the water. Trained divers even have chances to make a career out of a pastime; training others, working with law enforcement or search and rescue, popular aquariums, the Navy, or even owning their own scuba diving outfitters in areas ropical or at home.
Scuba diving is ideal in clear, warm tropical wter. You can see 100 to 200 feet nderwater, enjoying the long distances ahead of you and be fascinated at the amazing sea life in the reefs and open waters. Clear blue water and gorgeous underwater seascapes teaming with life all of all sorts abound. I have Scuba dived in a few special warm water, tropical sites like these; Cabo San Lucas, Cozumel, South Florida. All are wonderful areas
offering not only great diving but also interesting land activities.
One of the most popular scuba diving destinations in the world is Cozumel. Only hours from the Northwest, the diving in Cozumel is world class. Many professional dive companies
ready to take you to some of the most beautiful reefs and underwater rock structures in the world. Enjoy my article and pictures from my latest dive trip to Cozumel.
Another of the top dive areas of the world is the Great Barrier Reef off of tropical North Queensland in Australia. Here divers can enjoy the sea's bounty in one of the most pristine and peaceful environments in the world. There are scuba diving companies and charters all along the coasts of Australia ready to help you experience this world. Divers who choose to have their own expeditions must remember to be cautious, however, because as with all outdoor activities, there are risks in scuba diving. Weather and ocean conditions must be checked before embarking on a scuba diving trip. As with any outdoor activity, divers also do not want to get caught in the dangerous weather conditions, or the waters of the rainy season. The box jellyfish are present in the tropical Queensland waters and lives off the coast
during the wet season, so swimming and diving is only recommended in enclosed areas. Box jellyfish are venomous, dangerous and can be deadly. These jellyfish are never found on the Great Barrier Reef.
Scuba diving is a great way to see a world that is well beyond what most humans can ever experience. While learning to Scuba, I found that it took over 200 dives before I felt as though I was finally beginning to really learn the sport. Diving takes a lot of learning and practice, don't go buy all your gear and jump into the nearest body of water. Take the time to become professionally certified, take lessons and dive with experienced divers to make sure you know what you are doing before engaging in a trip of your own. Always consult with local experts when you are diving an unfamiliar or new spot.
